ABOUT
My name is Kasha and I am 29 30 31 years old. I come from a smallish town in northern Poland, but, currently, I live with my husband (and occasional sous-chef/food critic/assistant photographer) Tim in Dusseldorf, Germany. I am by no means a master chef and I have no formal culinary training but I do have an undying passion for food, writing and photography. And although Polish food, much like its German counterpart, is a traditional peasant fare, designed to fuel burly farmers of both sexes to go plow the fields or some such… I try to depart from this stereotype. I like to cook tasty and flavorful, but also healthy and light… For every single recipe where I overdose on butter, cream or sugar, I try to make two healthy ones to appease my conscience and liver. I get my inspiration from the countless cookbooks and food magazines that I purchase (to the growing despair of my husband) and from the restaurants I frequent (I am a total idea thief). I am hopelessly addicted to buying kitchen appliances and gadgets and I am equally addicted to reality TV, and not only the educational and constructive kind, but also to the “so-mindless-I’m-ashamed-to-link-it” kind. I’m pretty sure that this blog will become a catalogue of my addictions and obsessions. Maybe you’ll get addicted to it too.

FAQ
Currently, there are no Frequently Asked Questions or Answers for that matter… you gotta start firing away in order for this seriously sounding category (c’mon every self-respecting blog has one of these) to make sense. Anyone? Bueller?
In anticipation of questions such as: how in the world did you put this blog together, I thought you didn’t know anything about computers.
- I didn’t, at first, but then I started reading about the whole blog thing. The books that came in particularly handy were WordPress For Dummies by Lisa Sabin-Wilson and Creating a Web Site: The Missing Manual by Matthew McDonald. That’s where I learned that in addition to a domain name I also needed a host…
- My website is hosted by Dreamhost and if you sign-up for yearly hosting with them using a promotional code KitchenCrush you will receive a one-time $20 discount. One of the great things about Dreamhost is its one-click blogging platform install. This means that without knowing anything about anything you can quickly and painlessly install blogging software and start writing…
- My painlessly installed blogging platform is WordPress. It is very user friendly and intuitive, which makes it a total pleasure to use. And although it has many free themes (i.e. designs) that you can use for your blog, I am a complete and utter OCD/control freak and I wanted the design to be exactly like I imagined it…
- Having the design customized to my exact wishes and specifications, while not having any design or coding experience, and no clue about what I was doing, proved to be a non-issue thanks to the premium theme from Headway Themes. It is essentially a drop and drag theme which allows you to design your website without any HTML or CSS knowledge. It provides you with an idiotproof visual editor where you just move everything around till it looks like you want it to look. I have no doubt in my mind that without Headway Themes this blog would have never happened.
- I photograph my creations with my beloved Canon EOS 450 using mostly a 60mm Macro lens
